New GM CEO (aka Pres Obama) Offering Your Tax Dollars As Incentive to Purchase GM Cars

Ford is doing the same – but not on your dime. We need to purchase a car this summer. If it’s a choice between the Socialist-run GM or privately run, non-bailout taking, Ford, I’m going with Ford.

General Motors Corp…seeking to assure consumers worried about the U.S. recession, are offering incentives that include covering payments on new vehicles for buyers who lose their jobs.

GM would make payments for as many as nine months for those who become unemployed “for economic reasons,”…Detroit-based GM’s plan covers as much as $500 a month…

Ford, which lost a record $14.7 billion last year, is the only U.S. automaker not seeking federal aid

Sowell: The Rookie President

Another great article

(not that we weren’t screaming this from the rooftops before the election!)
Someone once said that, for every rookie you have on your starting team in the National Football League, you will lose a game. Somewhere, at some time during the season, a rookie will make a mistake that will cost you a game…

Barack Obama is a rookie in a sense that few other presidents in American history have ever been. It is not just that he has never been president before. He has never had any position in any kind of organization where he was personally responsible for the outcome.

In the name of “change,” Barack Obama is following policies so old that this generation has never heard of them — certainly not in most of our educational institutions, where history has been replaced by “social studies” or other politically correct courses.

…This year, President Obama’s attempt to make a backdoor deal with the Russians, behind the backs of the NATO countries, was not only rejected but made public by the Russians — a sign of contempt and a warning to our allies not to put too much trust in the United States.

New Contraband in WA: Dishwasher Detergent

Does this sound like the USSR to you too?

But it’s not easy to get sparkling dishes when you go green. Many people were shocked to find that product…left their dishes encrusted with food, smeared with grease and too gross to use without rewashing them by hand…As a result, there has been a quiet rush of Spokane-area shoppers heading east on Interstate 90 into Idaho in search of old-school sud…

“Yes, I am a smuggler,” she said. “I’m taking my chances because dirty dishes I cannot live with.”

(In truth, the ban applies to the sale of phosphate detergent — not its use or possession — so Marcotte is not in any legal trouble.)…

Marcotte said she tried every green brand in her dishwasher and found none would remove grease and pieces of food. Everybody she knows buys dishwasher detergent in Idaho, she said.

A bill on Capitol Hill would impose a nationwide ban.

Glenn Beck: CT Atty General Political Grandstanding

This guy cannot be real… He states that the AIG employees didn’t earn their pay or bonuses. Really? (remember leave feelings out of this!) What about a contract don’t you understand? There was no law broken. Remember that little thing called The Law – what you are supposed to be enforcing.

Pat Buchanan: Is Notre Dame Still Catholic?

Pat Buchanan has a great article here. As a Catholic I wish the church would start revoking the charters of these so-called “Catholic” institutions. If Catholic is to mean anything in the US, it needs to be clear about life.

(Pres. Obama) supports partial-birth abortion, where a baby’s soft skull is sliced open with scissors in the birth canal and its brains sucked out to ease its passage, a procedure Sen. Pat Moynihan said “comes as close to infanticide as anything I have seen in our judiciary.”

One could even ask “Are US Catholics still Catholic?” here’s a great video about holding fast to your distinctive truths… and why generic spirituality doesn’t hold our imagination, why not just be secular?

Foreign Stimulus? While US Firms Forced Overseas…

Ironically, while foreign firms are poised to benefit from Obama’s spending plans, American firms are worried about increasing tax rates here, and are moving overseas to escape the tax burden.

“U.S. companies are being forced to move elsewhere to remain internationally competitive because we have one of the world’s highest corporate tax rates,” writes Cato executive vice president David Boaz, in a blog posting online, commenting on the stimulus program.

“And many economists, including Nobel Laureate Robert Lucas, have argued that the single best thing we can do to improve economic performance and job creation is to eliminate multiple taxes on capital gains, interest and dividends.”

Looks like Canadian, French and Japanese firms are looking for some of our taxpayer dollars.. oh right, I mean “stimulus” dollars…

CEO in Chief: The Blurred Line Between Public & Private Enterprise

Great article by Rich Lowry.  I guess it is okay for a President Obama to grab hold of private enterprise, to reshape this country to a socialist country on par with the mediocre Europeans…

I can’t seem to imagine a journalist declaring “the President didn’t like the GM proposal and so the CEO was asked to step down” when the President was a Republican… what a difference an election makes… is it all about him?

Dawn Johnsen: Pregnancy Like Slavery

And people wonder why it is outrageous to many Catholics that President Obama is being given an honorary degree at Notre Dame and giving the commencement address.

The President’s nominee for White House Office of Legal Council, Dawn Johnsen, is against the partial-birth abortion ban. This is how the nominee describes preganancy in her amicus curiae brief in the case Webster v. Reproductive Health Services:

…Johnsen said that abortion restrictions “reduce pregnant women to no more than fetal containers.”

Johnsen attacked arguments that pregnant women consent to their pregnancy, saying those “who are the inevitable losers in the contraceptive lottery no more ‘consent’ to pregnancy than pedestrians ‘consent’ to being struck by drunk drivers.”

She also said that the experience of abortion is “no longer traumatic” and claimed most women respond to an abortion with “relief.”

And here I was thinking that abortion was not about birth control… who knew?!
