Perhaps it’s old fashioned of me to use the Seven Deadly Sins (Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride) as part of an anology describing the Obama Admin.’s approach to the economy and all else. But it does fit.
Not to beat the dead horse of AIG’s “greedy” executives, but by stoking and refocusing the anger of the envious masses, Pres. Obama is able to deflect responsibility away from him and his cohorts to a handful of employees at a private firm. These unfortunate few are not only now bilked out of their income but they are incurring the wrath of these envious people.
There are actually death threats against these employees and their families – their children. There are bus loads of folks driving passed the houses of these employees in CT. A neighbor of 24 years was interviewed ranting about the injustice of her neighbor (can’t imagine she is poor – I wonder how she made her money? Inquiring minds want to know. Maybe we should be driving passed her house?)
These folks should be driving down to Washington DC not up to CT. The villains here are in the Congress and the White House. But it is clever. Provoke Envy to allow for the stealing of someone’s private property.
What happened to the President’s promise of going line by line through the budget? posting the stimulus bill for Americans to review before signing? What is the deal with his strange laughter about the crisis at hand? Why is he having cocktail parties every week, sitting courtside at Wizard/Bulls game, practicing bowling, basically being everywhere and anywhere but where he is supposed to be: in the White House, doing the job he was hired to do.
Perhaps he is quite content to have the economy fall apart, blame capitalism, do away with Wall Street and institute a socialist economy with the means of production in the hands of the government.
Or, maybe he is just busy working on his new book.
